Victor Poulos Reappointed to the Human Rights Commission in New Mexico by Governor Grisham

Poulos & Cavazos is proud to share that Victor Poulos will serve another three years on New Mexico’s Human Rights Commission.

The Human Rights Commission was created to enforce New Mexico’s Human Rights Act.

The Commission investigates claims of discrimination based on race, color, national origin, religion, ancestry, sex, age, physical and mental handicap, serious medical condition, spousal affiliation, sexual orientation, and gender identity in the areas of employment, housing, credit, or public accommodation.

Additionally, the commission offers a variety of free human rights legal services and education sessions for employers and employees.

Mr. Poulos was first appointed as chairman of the Human Rights Commission in 2019.

This volunteer position is appointed by the New Mexico governor. Poulos’s most recent appointment will last until 2024.

Poulos earned his J.D. from Washburn University School of Law in 1976. He is licensed to practice in multiple states, including New Mexico, Texas, Iowa, and Kansas.

His legal experience is extensive; he began his career as a United States Army Judge Advocate General’s Corp. He has since worked as a partner in various law firms primarily focuses on medical malpractice.

In 2013, he joined two other attorneys to form Poulos & Cavazos. Our team is proud to work alongside a public servant like Victor Poulos.
