Frances Nuno, JD

Frances Nuno is a California-licensed attorney whose legal career is defined by more than 25 years of hands-on experience in the legal profession. Like many attorneys who began their careers as paralegals before entering law school, Frances built her expertise from the ground up—gaining decades of practical litigation experience before becoming an attorney.

Frances began working in the legal field in 1993, holding roles that included receptionist, legal assistant, and paralegal across a wide range of practice areas, including civil litigation, medical malpractice, family law, criminal law, probate, real estate, and business matters. While working full-time, she earned her Juris Doctor.

After passing the California Bar Exam in 2022, Frances transitioned into attorney practice with a deep understanding of litigation procedure, case development, and client advocacy—skills developed through decades of frontline legal work. She is admitted to practice in California and before the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of California and the District of New Mexico.

Since joining Poulos & Cavazos, LLP in 2023, Frances has played a key role in medical malpractice litigation. Her work includes legal research, drafting and managing complex discovery, attending depositions and mediations, resolving sophisticated healthcare liens (including Medicare, Medicaid, ERISA, and private insurance), and presenting cases before the New Mexico Medical Review Commission. She is known for her attention to detail and ability to manage complex cases efficiently and strategically.

Frances’s path from paralegal to attorney provides clients with a distinct advantage: an advocate who understands not only the law, but how cases are built, managed, and resolved at every level of the litigation process.
