
Mr. Johnson graduated in 1994 from Texas Christian University with honors. In 1999, Mr. Johnson graduated from Texas Tech University School of Law, also with honors. From 1999 to 2000, Mr. Johnson had the privilege of clerking for the Honorable Donald E. Walter, United States District Judge for the Western District of Louisiana.
Mr. Johnson has been a litigator and trial lawyer for over 25 years. Mr. Johnson began his legal career with the firm of Pettiette, Armand, Dunkelman, Woodley, Byrd & Cromwell and actively litigated the defense of civil rights and medical malpractice claims for four years. In 2004, Mr. Johnson joined Nix, Patterson & Roach, L.L.P. His practice with NPR initially focused on representing families in nursing home neglect and abuse cases across multiple states.
Mr. Johnson secured a number of significant victories at trial for injured clients and their families as lead trial counsel. After winding down his nursing home practice, Mr. Johnson continued representing victims of large corporations as his focus shifted primarily to representing victims of insurance bad faith through a series of nationwide class actions. Mr. Johnson was part of the NPR team that made billions of dollars available to victims of insurance claims underpayment schemes.
In approximately 2014, Mr. Johnson’ practice focus shifted again – this time to representing individuals and families whose lives had been forever altered by addiction to the nicotine in cigarettes. Mr. Johnson began battling Big Tobacco companies in Massachusetts, but in 2018 he focused his energies entirely on representing New Mexicans harmed by the predatory practices of Big Tobacco and has solely practiced in New Mexico since. Mr. Johson has been lead counsel in multiple, multi-week jury trials all over the state of New Mexico.
In 2024, Mr. Johnson enthusiastically joined Poulos & Coates, LLP allowing him to continue represent individuals all over the state of New Mexico whose lives have been forever altered by the negligence of others.
